Terms of Service / Privacy Policy

amiibo life is an unofficial, fan-made site and has no affiliation with Nintendo, Activision, or any other companies whose products and intellectual property are depicted here.

By creating an account on this site you agree that you won't use it to hurt people or damage property, you're 13 years of age or older (here's why), and any information you share through the site is at your own risk. Creating an account is only necessary to track and optionally share a collection and wish list. Viewing information about amiibo and game compatibility does not require an account.

amiibo life respects your privacy. It collects only the info it needs to work: if you choose to sign up, your email address, the username you provide, and the collection and wish list you keep here. You can delete your account at any time. This site uses cookies only for logging in: to remember that you've logged in when you return using the same browser, and to make sure pages you saw while logged in aren't shown again after you log out.

To understand how the site is used and to fix problems, it uses two privacy-focused services. Neither uses cookies, tracks you across other sites, or stores your IP address:

  • Usage statistics with Plausible Analytics: anonymous counts of things like which pages are viewed, which shopping links are clicked, how many results searches find (never what was searched for), which sites visitors came from, and their country and type of device.
  • Error reports with Sentry, stored in the EU: when something breaks, a report of what went wrong is sent so it can be fixed. It includes the technical details of the error, the address of the page (without search terms), and your type of browser, operating system and device. It doesn't include your IP address, cookies, account details or anything you've typed. Reports from your browser are passed on through amiibo.life, so your browser never contacts Sentry directly.

The amiibo life apps. The apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android show the same database as this site. They keep a copy of it on your device, so they work offline, and check amiibo.life for updates. Like the site, they count which screens are opened (and when an amiibo is scanned) with Plausible. Those counts are anonymous: no cookies, advertising or device IDs, or search terms, and your IP address is used only to work out your country, then discarded. When you scan an amiibo, the app reads only which figure it is, looks it up on your device, and never changes the amiibo. If you've allowed it in your device's settings, the App Store and Google Play also send the app's crash reports.

Signing in from the apps. If you sign in to amiibo life in an app, amiibo.life keeps a list of the phones and tablets you've signed in from: each one's device name, whether it's iPhone or Android, and roughly when it was last used (never its IP address). You can see this list and sign any device out on your Edit profile page. Devices are signed out automatically after 180 days without use, or when you change your password.
